The 2026 FIBA World Cup was a really fun tournament to watch and study, I was able take away over 100+ plays & concepts that I think could be useful to me now or for the future.

In this breakdown we are going to look at my favorite baseline out of bounds plays, then in the next few breakdowns look at my favorite plays out of Horns, Quick Hitters & Actions.

BOB 1 Out

A very common play from baseline out of bounds, this does require the inbounder to be a threat to score which can cause conflict with how comfortable coaches are with who is inbounding the ball.

After the inbound, typically a shooter screens in the middle of the floor and then comes off a screen toward the wing for a shot.

BOB 1 Strong

A counter to this the US changes the angle of the first screen to create a double screen for the inbounder.

BOB AI Elevator

Korea continues to be one of my favorite team to study from this tournament, a good decoy set here - especially if you run the “Double” action.

The inbounder cuts off a double zipper screen then the first player in the paint comes off an elevator screen.

BOB Cross

Belgium ran a good Cross screen set with the first option a quick pindown for a shooting big, then having a guard screen across in the middle.

BOB Curl Decoy

One of my favorite actions of the tournament - I love a great decoy play that requires IQ & timing.
